The Basic loops are best to start with. Not only are they easy to hold but also simple to understand. It is advised not to proceed with complex bracelet making art until and unless the children have mastered the basic loops. The looks of complicated loops are undoubtedly better and if the children are unable to make these on their own, they will always turn to you for braiding the bracelets - so it may end up becoming a nuisance for you!
Here is one of the loop styles that can be regarded as medium on the difficulty scale which you can enjoy making with your family.

The Fish Tail Braid

This style tends to look fuller and more complete as compared with the basic loops. However, it is important to remember that children will only be able to learn advanced science once they are thorough with their basics. Here is a step-by-step procedure of how this is done.

1.       Select the colors you would want to use in making your fish tail bracelet.
2.       Place the first rubber band horizontally on the loom with a twist so that it resembles the infinity sign.
3.       Place two more rubber bands on this first one without the twists.
4.       Using the hook, pull up the bottom-most rubber band and release it from the loom. It will come together holding the other two bands in place.
5.       Place another rubber band on the same loom heads without the twist.
6.       Release the now bottom-most rubber band the same way as you released the first.
7.       Continue this trend – placing a rubber band and releasing one from below. The fish tail will automatically come into view after the first few braids are done.
8.       Go on with the braid until the desired length is reached. End with a clip to hold the ends together.
9.       Slip it onto your wrist and show it off to the world!

The fish tail braid looks as astounding in bracelets as it does in other jewelry pieces like necklaces, rings, anklets and others. All you need is a Rubber Band Bracelet Kit to get started. All supplies including the loom, hook and colored rubber bands are included in the package so you need not stress about where to get individual components from!

Once you are done with the fish tail, there are practically thousands of braid styles you can try with your children. You can find different websites and YouTube videos to help you with these. There are even quite a few eBooks made on this topic considering its popularity among children of both genders and all ages.
To add a twist, you can even use glow-in-the-dark rubber bands for making the perfect jewelry piece! It gives that added advantage children will absolutely love having!
