How Can Jewelry-Making Loom Kits Help Children Groom

Loomy Loom Kit Set
Jewelry-making can prove to be immense fun for everyone involved in this art. It is not only about being able to customize the pieces one would like to wear, but also about being in control of its organization.
This activity can prove to be exceptionally fruitful in helping children learn different skills and growing into fine adults. Here are some of the reasons why you as a parent or guardian should indulge in jewelry-making with your children.

Enhances Creativity

There are innumerable ways in which different jewelry components can be put together. This allows children to exercise their creative instincts in building their perfect jewelry items. So they learn to think “out of the box” and innovate with different objects. In the long run, this can help children experiment with newer things and think differently.

Patience and Persistence

As it is said, “Patience is a virtue”. Jewelry-making can help children learn this valuable lesson. It takes time and effort to master the skill of jewelry-making.
Children will need to work long hours with different jewelry components in order to become expert at assembling them. During this time, they may fail a couple of times but they will continue to do so in order to learn this skill. This teaches them a basic lesson for success well during their childhood that can stay with them throughout their lives.

Enhances Motor Skills

Children tend to be clumsy and careless – their grip and manipulation skills become stronger with time. Jewelry-making can help children improve their hand dexterity rapidly.
Jewelry-making involves handling small and complicated objects, threading them and also knotting them differently. This puts the children’s motor skills to test and helps them overcome their weaknesses swiftly. So when they are in their early schooling years, they are able to hold and work with their stationary efficiently.

Enhances Visual Perceptions

This involves the hand-eye coordination. While making different jewelry items, children need to be able to work with different components in order to put them together. This phase allows them to understand how it is done, see the process and improve their own performance in this regard. Over time, they will become more efficient with their hands.

Improves Memory

Jewelry-making can help children improve their memory skills in three ways:
·         Deciding which Pattern to make. Knowing the process and working through it allows the child to improve his/her planning and decision-making skills. So the child is able to plan his/her activity, look for all the equipments required to complete the project and plan the contingencies for anything not available to him/her.
·         Remembering the Pattern. The child needs to remember the sequence in which the beads and/or different embellishments are being put together in order to complete a balanced and symmetrical piece. This helps him/her improve memory and retention.
·         Mathematics. How many embellishments are required to complete the jewelry? How many colors? How much thread/wire? Over time, the child becomes fluent in his/her math regarding different aspects of jewelry making. This can help him/her in the long run throughout academics.
That said, it makes sense to indulge in simple arts like jewelry-making with children to help them groom. Once they are done with their first, their sense of confidence and accomplishment will be a sight to behold!
